Five Star Campsites in Devon

Farm Campsites In Devon

“A Great Example of a Small Rural Campsite”
We have two young sons, who love the outdoors, but had yet to try camping, so we wanted a family friendly campsite, but in addition we were also looking for a dog friendly campsite in Devon. The Quarry Pods just “fitted the bill” perfectly. It’s a small country campsite, set in the most idyllic location, but the best thing of all is that each pod has its own private bathroom –“ a campsite with private bathrooms” now that’s a novel idea and just what we needed!

5 Star Camping in Devon

The site and surroundings are beautiful with every attention to detail; the camping pods are situated down In the old small stone quarry – where the five are situated in a “horse-shoe” shape with landscaping between each pod. Near the entrance to the pod area is a covered communal barbecue, “which we used most evenings”. It’s great to find an accredited campsite in Devon with such a lovely setting.

“Wow a Campsite With Private Bathroom Facilities”

As you leave the pod area you cross a small parking area to a block where each of the private bathrooms are situated we were staying in The Den, so our bathroom was called The Den.
The bathrooms were “Stunning” hotel standard, each with toilet, basin, large private shower, mirror, storage unit and best of all these were heated bathrooms.

Better than Devon Yurts

Before our visit to The Quarry Pods we had stayed in Yurts in Devon, which although they offered a little more space, they were cold (weekend autumn camping) and even with the wood burner lit they were still too cold. What’s more they rattled like mad in the wind and were extremely noisy in the rain – Glamping in Yurts was not our idea of fun.

Out and About in Devon

site was so nice we hardly wanted to venture away, but we did visit the Tamar Lakes, the dog friendly beaches of Northcott and Duckpool, where both the kids and our 3 year old terrier had a wonderful time. We also had a day trip to Lundy Island (the kids loved the boat trip).
Eating out was no problem as we found lots of dog friendly pubs in Devon and Cornwall, the Bay View Inn at Widemouth Bay was amongst our favourites.
