Set in beautiful in beautiful North Devon countryside, Dunsdon Farm, is an historic 54 acre farm, adjoining the Dunsdon National Nature Reserve, and with easy reach of the North Cornwall Coast. The area known as Ruby Country (named after its local cattle) is a truly dark sky experience with virtually no light pollution.

The skies are huge here and, surrounded by acres of fields, there is virtually no light pollution. Come and enjoy the unique Ruby Country dark sky experience, in beautiful North Devon. With ever changing constellations and making North Devon one of the finest stargazing holidays in the United Kingdom.

You may also glimpse some nocturnal wildlife on the farm, bats & moths are resident Barn Owls (viewable on our nest cam) as well as listen to the sounds of the tooting of Tawny Owls in the nearby woods.

Dunsdon Farm is also an excellent location to base yourself and make for other nearby stargazing locations in Devon and Cornwall, in particular the nearby coves of Sandymouth, Northcott and Hartland which are all reachable within a 20 minute drive.
Stargazing on the beach in Devon, or from the cliff tops offers a truly magical experience.

Astronomy Holidays in Devon (Our Farm)

For stargazing guests we have a number of locations on the farm which make truly magnificent vantage points, we have a 23 acre young woodland plantation with large expanses of open rides and a wildlife pond, great for the stars and wildlife !!

Closer to the farm buildings we also have small grass open areas, within our Quarry Pods and Old Shippon cottage, that provide great areas to set up telescopes and viewing equipment.

Our location in the depths of the rural Devon countryside means that we have absolutely no light pollution. As a recent guest said, “it gets properly dark here”. Previous guests have even been known to bring their telescopes on holiday!

Group Stargazing Weekends in Devon

Based at our Quarry Pods, we are able to offer luxury accommodation for group astronomy weekends in Devon. We have five Quarry Pods (three Supa Pods Sleeping Four and two standard pods, sleeping two). These can be booked either individually or for club or group bookings.
When we have stargazing groups visit we do our best to reduce or eliminate (subject to safety) all unnecessary lighting on or around the farm.


We are also able to provide ideas of places to visit during the daytime, with many National Trust properties, RHS Rosemoor gardens, beautiful beaches and glorious walking close by.
